Criminal Record Checks
The following is provided for general information purposes only. IPR encourages applicants to contact law enforcement and/or consular officials directly for official information and advice.
Vulnerable Sector Query By applying to teach English in South Korea you are applying to work with children. When requesting your criminal history, please notify the processing law enforcement agency of your intention to work with children and your need for additional clearance vis-a-vie a vulnerable sector query or equivalent. This additional search ensures that applicants for registration do not have expunged, sealed or spent convictions involving sex crimes and/or children.

Canada
Canadians should make inquiries at their nearest municipal, provincial or RCMP police detachment for the criminal record check. The criminal record check MUST include a vulnerable sector query.
These checks can be done at any police station as they are all run through the same database.

Should you be in an area that is serviced by the RCMP you can check their contact details on the RCMP website
Must be issued within last 3 months by the RCMP or the Provincial Police Must include VULNERABLE SECTOR SEARCH
- Must be notarized on the original criminal record check by a public notary
- Must be confirmed by a Korean Consulate
Note: To be confirmed by a Korean Consulate, you can visit the Consulate with the notarized criminal record check, a passport and a fee of $2.20 CND. If you do not live in the area, please send it by mail (Express Post or Priority Courier) including the notarized criminal record, fee $2.20 CND (money order), a copy of passport, and a return envelope(Express Post or Priority Courier).
USA
